The Mobile Tacker Free app as the name implies is free but they do offer a paid version as well.  The app needs to be installed on the phone or tablet that you want to track.  It has the most features that we have ever seen in a free app.  You will need to create an account on their site and then you are ready to start tracking.

Pros:

  • Quick and easy setup
  • Tracks your phone using Google Maps in real-time.
  • You can see what is happening on the phone with live view mode.
  • If the phone is in transit, you can get the speed that it’s going as well as the phones GPS coordinates.
  • Many other features available such call monitoring, message tracking, photo tracking, and remote control

Cons:

  • The tracked phone needs to have an internet connection.
  • With the free version, the phone needs to be connected to the site at least once every week.
  • Your phone needs to be rooted.

  • The app does not slow down your phone.

Cons:

  • It can only track your phone if it’s turned on.
  • There is no online version so the app needs to be installed on your phone.

Wheres My Droid has a free, pro and elite versions.  With the free version, GPS tracking is available so depending on your needs, this may be the app for you.  It can turn on your ringer so you can hear if it’s nearby.  Wheres My Droid gives you the tools you need to find your lost or stolen phone.

Pros:

  • Easy setup
  • Does not drain your battery.
  • With the pro version, you can hide the app icon.
  • Real-time GPS tracking.

Cons:

  • Only available on Android
  • The free version contains ads.

Find My iPhone

The defacto iOS GPS phone tracker. Created by Apple to not only find you iPhone but most iDevices including AirPods. For the GPS tracking to work you will need to use the Find My iPhone app or sign into iCloud.  If your device is lost or stolen you can put it into lock mode remotely and leave a message on how to return it to you.

Pros:

  • Made by Apple
  • Does not drain your battery.
  • Real-time GPS tracking.
  • Remote Wipe feature.
  • It can remotely lock your phone so that it cannot be activated without entering a password you set.

  • Only available on iOS
